NORBCO had its beginning in 1981 in a small warehouse in Utica, New York. Dairymen quickly recognized NORBCO equipment as unique and ruggedly built, with innovative designs. More and more dairymen are installing NORBCO equipment in their new barns and expansions. In 1984, NORBCO moved to a new location, an office/warehouse facility in Westmoreland, New York (two miles South of Exit 32 off the NY Thruway - I90). Business continued to prosper. Six new buildings have been constructed, and employment has increased from one person in 1981 to more than fifty today.
The first new product for the DAIRY SYSTEMS DIVISION, added by NORBCO in 1992, was an innovative state-of-the-art, super rugged; parallel milking with individual cow indexing. Industry acceptance has been exciting and systems are now operating throughout the world. The DAIRY SYSTEMS DIVISION later introduced NORBCO's Herringbone milking parlor, the Magnum 40, as well as the Global 90 - a value oriented parallel parlor.
In April 2000 NORBCO opened a new state of the art manufacturing and distribution facility in Tomah, WI to better serve the rapidly growing midwest market.
Building state-of-the-art equipment with the ruggedness that is needed in today's large dairy operations has been the emphasis from the start. "Unless we can design a better product, build it stronger, and offer more benefits than our competitors, we will not build it!" states Joe Moreau, President and Product Manager.
This philosophy has been successful for the company. NORBCO is now a major barn equipment and dairy systems manufacturer/distributor throughout the United States and around the world.
